【摘要】:Thesetestsareparticularlyusefulforqualitycontrolintheproductionofsyntheticrubbers.Percentgelisameasureoftheamountofinsolublerubberpresentinthechosensolvent.Gelmaybeintroducedintentionallyinsomerubbers.Variationsfromanormallevelindicatechangesinthepolymerizationsystem.Swellingindexisameasureofthetypeofgel.Gelwithalow-swellingindexisreferredtoasx201C;hardgelx201D;andusuallyindicatesthepresenceofmaterialthatdoesnotbreakdownreadilybymilling.Ahigh-swellingindexnormallyindicatesthepresenceofax201C;loosegelx201D;thatmaybebrokendowneasilybymilling.Inlow-gelorgel-freerubbers,theDSVcorrelatesdirectlywiththemolecularweight.Sincetheviscosityismeasuredonlyonthesolubleportionoftherubber,theuseofDSVtopredictmolecularweightinrubbershavinghighgelvaluesismeaningless.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofthedilutesolutionviscosity(DSV),thegelcharacteristics,andtheswellingindexofrawnon-oil-extendedandnon-pigmentedSBRandNBR.1.2ThistestmethodmaybeusedtodeterminetheDSVandgelcharacteristicsofrubbersotherthanSBRandNBR,however,solventsotherthan2-butanoneandtoluenemayberequired.1.3Thistestmethodisnotintendedforthemeasurementofmicro-gel.1.4ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
